2022 Discovery Graduates Letter

Dear Discovery Graduate,

Graduation is coming up very quickly and there are some important things you need to know.

Graduation will be June 14th at Discovery. The first appointment will be at 10:20 a.m. and the last appointment at 4:30 p.m. Please come in or call the office to sign up for a graduation time.

Prior to Graduation:

  • Complete all classes and graduation requirements including your Xello lessons by June 6.

  • Please complete your graduation profile online or in person, this helps us create the programs for graduation by June 3.

  • Order you cap, gown and tassel at the deadline to order online was May 13th. Cap and gowns must be royal blue.

  • If you have a royal blue gown and just need a tassel, you can order through the main office by May 27th. Tassels are $16.00 plus tax. This will save the ship and handling for 1 tassel. We accept cash and cards only. Cash must be exact, we don’t have change.

  • Attend your final term conference with your advisor on either June 10 or 13.

  • Please pay all fines and return any school items, including your Chromebook and charger, during your conference or prior to June 13.

  • Be sure to keep in touch with your advisor and watch updates about graduation in the Counseling and Graduate 2022 Google classrooms.

  • You can pick up your graduation yard sign from the main office once you have finished your Xello lessons and your Graduation profile.

What to Expect at Graduation?:

  • Student and up to 10 guests may attend. Please arrive 5‐10 minutes before your time slot. You must be dressed in your blue graduation gown and ready to walk.
  • Parking will be in student parking behind Discovery.
  • Masks are optional
  • Families will be seated, and graduates will go to a staging area.

Once the ceremony begins, graduates will need to follow the instructions given by our staff.  You will get your diploma at check out if all fines are paid and all requirements are cleared.

Graduates attending the ceremony participate in a flower recognition presentation.  The school gives you two flowers to present to people who helped you graduate.  This could be a family member, teacher, mentor, or a friend.  These two names will be listed in the Graduation Program.  

There will be several photo opportunities around campus for you to take pictures with family.

Please don’t let not having a cap or gown keep your from enjoying your graduation ceremony.  You have worked hard to get here.  Please contact the office and we will do what we can to help.

After Graduation and Other Events:

If you are unable to attend the ceremony, your diploma will be available for pick up June 15 thru June 30, 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. in the main office.

End of Year Party:

We will be having an end of the year party on June 7 for Monday/Tuesday students and June 9 for Thursday/Friday students.  If you have finished and are no longer attending, please call the office for party begin times.  Lots of food and fun.  Don’t miss out!!

Non-school sponsored events:

  • Prom June 4th at the Kitsap Conference Center in Bremerton.   Ticket will go on sale May 16.  Discovery students can purchase tickets online at the webstore if they do not have any fines.  Otherwise, students will need to go to SKHS ASB office during South’s lunches or after school ONLY.
  • Senior Parade – Parent sponsored parade on June 10 at 7 pm.

We are so glad you choose Discovery High School for your education.  We are looking forward to celebrating your completion with you and your family.  Please remember that you hold a special place in our heart and will always be a Phoenix.
