Discovery Early Head Start

Discovery Alternative High School has an on-site childcare center for students of Discovery.

Early Head Start (EHS) at Discovery includes home based and center based families. EHS primarily focuses on child development for the prenatal to three year old child. This is promoted by building strong relationships with each of our families. EHS encourages family participation with the child to promote well being for the entire family. Students need to qualify for childcare subsidies and are enrolled from a waiting list, on a needs-basis, to attend our on-site center for teen parents. Some families choose to have home based EHS services which supports the family with weekly visits from our home visitor. EHS has allowed many teen parents to attend school and graduate, which may not have been a possibility otherwise. Both center and home based programs are an essential piece of Discovery Alternative High School.
