CAP & GOWNS/JOSTENS ORDERS

Students attending graduation must have a cap and gown.  Orders need to be placed online at www.RRGrad.com by May 3. Students who have already completed graduation requirements will be contacted by the office for pick-up of items ordered; the office is open until 4:00 p.m.  If you have already graduated, are working, or are attending college and cannot come to pick up your graduation items during office hours please call 443-3680 and make alternate arrangements.

REHEARSALS

Rehearsals are mandatory.  If you plan to participate in the graduation ceremony it is important to attend both graduation rehearsals in order to know what to do when entering and exiting the church, also how seating and rotation to receive diplomas works.

Rehearsal #1 will be Friday, May 31 from 12:00 – 1:00 p.m. in the Discovery gym.  Please be prompt.

Rehearsal #2 will be right before the ceremony at Chapel Hill on Monday, June 3 at 5:00 p.m.  Bring your cap and gown to change into after rehearsal.

You will not have time to go home.  The ceremony begins promptly at 6:30 p.m.

TICKETS

Each graduate participating in the ceremony will be issued 10 tickets for invited guests.  Tickets for potential graduates are available from the main office.  Students who have already completed graduation requirements can stop by the Discovery office to pick up their tickets.  (Extra tickets are available at the Discovery office.)

GUESTS

We encourage you to invite guests of high school age and above only.  We recommend that teen parents and graduates who have relatives with babies and toddlers find a babysitter.  This ceremony is for graduates to celebrate and enjoy with families and friends.  Very young children do not like the noise and crowds.  An upset baby or toddler makes it difficult for all around them to hear the ceremony.  If you will be attending with a baby or toddler please be considerate and take advantage of the Cry Room provided by the Church.  Ushers will be available to direct you to this room where a sound system, viewing window and comfortable accommodations are provided.  There is also balcony seating available. Let your usher know if you wish to be seated in the balcony.

GRADUATION PROFILE & CHECKLIST

Remember to turn in your pink graduate profile & checklist even if you are not attending the ceremony.  All graduate profiles appear in our graduation program.  Final date for updating profiles is Thursday, May 30.

FLOWER RECOGNITION PRESENTATION

Graduates attending the ceremony participate in a flower recognition presentation.  The school gives you two flowers to present to people who helped you graduate.  This could be a family member, a mentor or a friend.  These two names are listed in the Graduation Program.  If you have turned in your Graduate Checklist we have these names; if you have not, please give us the names and relationships of the people you will present the two flowers to by Thursday, May 30.

 UPDATED ADDRESS AND PHONE

All graduates attending the ceremony need to keep the Discovery office informed of address and phone number changes.  Call 443-3680 to report changes.

PICNIC

DISCOVERY ALL-SCHOOL PICNIC
will be held Wednesday, May 29, and Thursday, May 30, beginning with a barbecue lunch at 11:00 a.m.  Plan to attend on your scheduled day.  ALL CURRENT STUDENTS AND 2018-2019 GRADUATES ARE INVITED.   Activities will be planned.

REMINDER: As with any other Discovery activity there will be no outside guests or children.

DIPLOMAS

Diplomas are presented at graduation.  Students with district fines receive a diploma cover only until fines are paid and proof of fine payoff is presented to the Discovery office.  All fine payoff slips must be given to office staff by Friday, May 31, if a student wants to receive his/her diploma at the graduation ceremony.

Any graduates NOT attending the graduation ceremony will need to make arrangements to pick up their diplomas at school beginning the day following the ceremony. If you have recently paid fines please bring proof of fine payoff.  Discovery office will be staffed until the end of June.  Call ahead so your diploma is ready for you.  Discovery Office phone number is 443-3680.
