Welcome new and returning Discovery Students! This weekly bulletin is available for students and families via Student/Parent Square, the Discovery High School Webpage , in advisory classrooms and posted in the student lunch room. This week students will begin working on their plans in Advisory. Lessons are spread throughout the year focusing on goal-setting, career exploration, post high school planning, financial aid and resume building. Please reach out to your student's advisor, or the counselor, Susan Mosby, if you have any questions.
Bus…The AM bus from SKHS to Discovery is scheduled to leave SKHS at 7:20 AM from Space #4.
If students need to know where it is located, they should ask their bus driver where the Discovery shuttle is located.
The PM bus from Discovery to SKHS is scheduled to leave Discovery at 1:48pm.
For students who attend West Sound Tech, the bus departs Discovery at 10:40 AM.
Breakfast and Lunch are Free to all Students in the Lunch Room!
- Breakfast will be available from 7:15 AM
- Lunch is available for West Sound Tech students from 10:20-10:35 AM
- Lunch will be served for the rest of the student body from 10:35- 10:50 AM
Chromebooks See Greg in J2 to check-out a Chromebook if you need one, or if you need assistance. Please use THIS LINK to purchase a Chromebook Protection Plan. Teachers also have Chromebooks in the classroom that you are able to use.
SKSD, including Discovery, has a new CELL PHONE POLICY HERE that was shared with students during orientation and will be discussed in your advisory.
Student parking is in the front of our building. Please see Shiela in the office to get a pass. Bring your Driver’s License, Registration, and Proof of Insurance. For the safety of yourself and others please remember to drive very slowly when in the parking area.
REMINDER 10TH GRADERS: Project Phoenix lunch meet-up is Tuesday/Thursday in E-1 at 10:40 am. Grab your lunch and head to Rebecca’s Room! See you there! - Stacy
Clothing Closet on Campus
Please see a staff member for assistance if you would like access to the clothing closet. These items are free for students and there are a variety of clothing items including socks, hand warmers, shoes, etc.

Please come be a part of our YOUTH COURT and join our informational meeting on 9/16/2026 @ 4:00 PM at the Kitsap County Juvenile Court – 1338 SW Old Clifton Rd. Port Orchard, WA 98367. This kickoff/training will include a tour of the Juvenile Detention Center.
Several speakers will talk about what to expect and how you can be part of this year’s YOUTH COURT. This is a great way to learn about the court system, make a difference in your community, help guide teens who have made poor choices and connect with amazing adults who are guiding you through the process each month. Youth court is only a once-a-month commitment and will be a great asset to any scholarship / college applications.
If you would like more information please speak with Erin in the office. She will be attending the meeting on September 16, 2026.

College Fair, Job Fair and Financial Aid Presentations at SKHS
Time to Plan for HOCO (Homecoming) on Saturday, October 3, 2026
SKHS Dance and HOCO information: Forms are available now in the office and should be returned to office staff as soon as possible. The final deadline to return forms is 9-18-26.
Purple forms: Request to Attend for all Explorer, Discovery, and in-district homeschool/private (including for guests who are enrolled). Needs to by signed by ADMIN at your school by Friday, September 18, 2026.
Goldenrod forms: Guest Forms, each in-district student is allowed one out of district guest, Guest must have their school admin sign and attach business card. If guest is homeschooled, parent can sign in lieu of admin, no business card needed.
Important dates:
Sept. 14th - HOCO tickets go on sale (both forms must be approved by SKHS admin BEFORE tickets can be purchased).
Sept. 18th - LAST DAY to turn in both forms to respective school by 3:00pm.
Sept. 22nd - All outstanding guest forms will be approved/declined by SKHS admin by 2:00pm.
Oct. 2nd - LAST DAY to purchase tickets- by 3:00pm, no exceptions.
NEW SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITIES:
2027 Elks Most Valuable Student Scholarship based on academics, leadership, service and financial need. Scholarship amounts start at $4,000.00. Application and more information is available HERE.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY WITH POSSIBLE PE CREDIT
Jerry, our Security Officer, is asking for volunteers to work as a crossing guard at Orchard Heights Elementary 8:30-9:00 AM. This is during the student advisory period and there is a possible opportunity to earn PE credit. Please speak with Shiela, Erin, or Suzanne in the office if you are interested.Job Postings
Creative Kids Learning Center has 2 openings for their afternoon position. Duties include cleaning, stocking supplies and stepping into classrooms as needed. The hours are 2:00 (as close to this as possible) to 5:00. Candidates must be able to pass a background check and get a tb test. To apply, call 360-769-8499 and ask to speak with Gen.
