Seeking Students for Kitsap Strong's Youth Leadership Team!
What does the Youth Leadership Team do? In past years, the Youth Leadership Team has participated in advocacy with elected officials in Olympia in support of policy affecting youth, including funding for college, immigrant rights, and mental health. The Team has also organized and hosted events for young people and for all ages to promote mental health, connection, reflection, and community-building, including board games, therapy dogs, student bands performing live music, arts and crafts, yard games, and sports. At the beginning of every year, the current team reviews past activities and discusses the priorities and interests of the current group to determine what activities they would like do that year.
Who are we looking for? We are looking for students who:
- are in 9th - 11th grade in the 2026-2027 school year
- attend any high school in Kitsap or North Mason County
- would like to practice and grow their leadership skills
- would like to serve their communities, working to improve the wellbeing and educational attainment of Kitsap and North Mason Counties
- commit to attending 2 two-hour meetings a month on Monday afternoons in Bremerton, 3:30-5:30 pm, November 2026 to June 2027
How do I apply?
Please Complete Interest Form Hereby October 1st. Then the group's advisor and facilitator, Promise Partner, will text you to arrange a time for a phone conversation / interview to learn more about you. Then, in consultation with others from Kitsap Strong, she will select five people from among the candidates.

Looking for a Place to Connect with Students and Build Community?
All Discovery students are invited to join Teen Talking Circle – a place to come together to talk about the good stuff and the hard stuff, to build connections, deepen your sense of self, and strengthen your coping skills.
Meetings take place on Wednesdays (starting October 7), from 12:30 – 2:00 PM in Room E1

Parenting in Community: Talking Circle & Support Group
Come together with other parents, guardians and caregivers in the SKSD community to share the joys and challenges of parenting, gather resources and strengthen skills! All are welcome to join your SKSD social workers and school psychologist. Tuesdays, October 13-November 17, 5:30-7:00 PM at SKHS, Room 202A.
